What are clawback fees? When a mortgage has been established through a broker, the broker receives a commission from the lender as industry standard practice. However, if the mortgage is discharged within 24 months (i.e. the property is sold or refinanced) the bank will re-call (claw-back) the commission from the broker. It is not sustainable for a brokerage business to carry this loss and therefore a clawback fee is included in our terms and conditions of service, provided up front to all clients.
